Betty Vang of Spades Beauty Joins Daela Cosmetic Tattoo

Q & A with Betty Vang

DAELA: Hi Betty! We are so excited and honored to have you join the team at DAELA Cosmetic Tattoo. Please tell us a little about your cosmetic tattoo training and history with cosmetic tattoo.

Betty: I have been in the beauty industry for more than 10 years and specialize in brow PMU. I started my career with Lash Extensions then discovered Microblading very early, before it was a well-known service. I decided to put in my time to obtain my tattoo license in the State of Oregon, which is a long process, it takes 360 hours (210 hours of theory and 150 hours of practical)! I have trained extensively with various artists around the United States, perfecting my skill. In 2013 I opened my studio, offering multiple services, Spades Beauty was born!

DAELA: Tell us about your business success and why you decided to make this career change.

Betty: After many years of business, I developed a loyal customer base, perfected my skills, and developed a team of people who worked with me. I loved it, and on the flip side, I spent all my waking hours on business. Owning your own business is rewarding, but very challenging. It’s a double-edged sword. I found myself missing time with my daughter and husband. Then, after years of success, like most small businesses, Spades Beauty had taken a hit during the pandemic. Unsure of the outcome, Spades Beauty started to reopen just as pandemic restrictions loosened up, but the damage had been done. My studio was too small to conform to strict COVID restrictions and we could only serve 1/3 the clients we used to. I lost artists and had to start down-sizing.

One day out of the blue, I received a phone call from Daela Cosmetic Tattoo and was proposed an offer I couldn’t refuse. I met with owners Lina, Erica and Kim and fell in love with the concept of being taken care of as an artist with all responsibilities of ownership taken off my shoulders. Now I can focus 100% on my art and have time to spend with my family. Interestingly, the call came at a pivotal moment for me, I think they call it kismet, I had no idea a business platform like DAELA Cosmetic Tattoo existed. It’s truly a place where independent artists can let go of the challenges of owning their own business and still have a successful career!

DAELA: What excites you the most about joining DAELA Cosmetic Tattoo?

Betty: I am happy to be part of a team with like-minded artists and be a part of a group that helps each other succeed. I’m looking forward to seeing what the future has in store and I’m excited to bring my clients along for the ride to enjoy this wonderful transition.
